We all carry things we can’t quite name.
Sometimes, the struggles we encounter don’t come from our own life at all. They may have roots in our family history, the patterns of generations before us, or even in the wider collective story of humanity. These invisible burdens function like an undercurrent quietly pulling us in directions we didn’t intend to go. Like the relationship that began as something right out of a fairy tale but quickly turned sour. Unbeknownst to you, you unconsciously attracted a person who later turned your life upside down. A someone that simulated a part of your unhealed past, a past that was never yours in the first place. What you didn’t know is you married a family pattern instead of the love of your life. This is just one example of how hidden family dynamics shape our moods, our choices, and our relationships.
You want to make better choices in relationships, but something keeps getting in your way. Until one day you get a niggling sense that whatever it is doesn’t fully belong to you, but you can’t get past what ever it is. You can’t “think” or “talk” yourself into letting go of invisible beliefs and patterns.
That’s why I work with Family Constellation Therapy. It is a deep, but brief therapy that works in a way that traditional therapies can’t. It allows you to see the patterns operating in your life from a completely different perspective. In just one session you can experience a sense of where in your family, your unhelpful patterns come from. Perhaps your parent was an alcoholic and you stepped in as the responsible child. Other therapies might help you recognise your role, but with Family Constellation Therapy, you release the burden by giving it back.
The woman who attracts men who later turn out to be irresponsible is the little girl who grew up being overly responsible. As a child, she became the parentified child, standing in the place that belonged to an adult. Her patterns are a product of her larger family system.
The work of Family Constellation Therapy is to gently uncover and release the burdens you’ve unconsciously “carried.” It isn’t about cutting ties with your past or erasing people from it. It’s about recognising the role you unconsciously played and the load you unconsciously took on. It’s about returning the burden that was never yours to where it belongs with compassion and understanding, not anger or rage. This work is not about assigning blame to your parents or further back down the line. It’s about recognising you carried the emotional burden out of love, out of loyalty/duty for those who couldn’t.
It is through this combination of recognition and release that you can begin to stand more fully in your own life.
With this awareness, you cease to be the victim other therapies would have you be, because blame keeps you trapped. The Family Constellation Therapy method helps you move forward in your own life by letting go of the unhelpful beliefs and leaving the patterns where they belong—in the past.
The Power of Your True Self
Beneath all the layers of hurt, history, and survival strategies, there is a part of you that is steady, strong, and untouched by harm. This is what some call the Self or Higher Self, the calm, compassionate core of who you truly are. When you let go of the burdens that aren’t yours and reconnect with this part, you tap into a source of wisdom and safety that can hold you through even the heaviest work.
From this place, you don’t need to blame others or cut them out of your life to heal. When you know your “place,” you can set clear boundaries, protect your own heart, and invite in the life you were always meant to live. This is your true identity.
A Path Back to Belonging
When we let go of what doesn’t belong to us, we create space for what does. Authenticity. Vitality. Creativity. Connection. Belonging.
This work doesn’t just restore your personal well-being, it weaves you back into the greater tapestry of family, community, and life itself. At the center of that tapestry is love. Love reconnects us. Love strengthens us. Love guides us home.
